I. OBJECTIVE:
1. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
- Develop such reading micro-skills as reading for general ideas and for specific information about the topic "Generation gap"
- Scan the text for details and answer the questions.
- provide learners some vocabulary related to the topic of conflicts in the family
- Understand the text about conflicts in a family
- Use the information they have read to discuss with their partners and share their opinions
- Understand more about the conflicts between parents and teenage and they may know the way to avoid them.
2. Skills: Develop reading’s skills
- To promote Ss to develop their reading skills
- Skim the text to get the general idea
- Scan the text to get some specific details

Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: - Develop such reading micro-skills as reading for general ideas and for specific information about the topic "Generation gap" - Scan the text for details and answer the questions. - provide learners some vocabulary related to the topic of conflicts in the family - Understand the text about conflicts in a family - Use the information they have read to discuss with their partners and share their opinions - Understand more about the conflicts between parents and teenage and they may know the way to avoid them. 2. Students: Students’ books, learning tools, drafting paper and/or extra board, marker III. PROCEDURE: 1. Warmup: (5m) Goal: Lead sts into the topic of the lesson Tasks: Sts watch video and give the answers Method: Whole class. - Teacher let sts watch a video and answer the questions: What’s the video about? Suggested answer: The conflicts between parents and teenage/ children 2. Contents: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities ACTIVITY 1: Guessing the conflicts will appear in the passage (5m) Aim: Sts brainstorming the content of the passage. Method: Work individually and then in pairs - Introduces the reading text, and elicit some sources of conflict. - Ask sts to tick the conflicts (a-g) and then compare their choices with their partner's. - Call on some sts to give their answers. - Ask others to give comments. - Feedback - Listen to the teacher and take note if necessary. - Do the task individually and then exchange in pairs. - Give the answers. - Give comments. - Check and take notes. (Students’ private answers) ACTIVITY 2: Vocabulary & check predictions in task 1 (6m) Aims: Sts get more new words to understand the passage. Methods: Pre-teaching vocabulary: - conflict(v, n) ( picture) - decide = make decision - break rules - norm (n): chuẩn mực → social norm - arise (v) - regardless of - impose (v) ST on somebody - burden (n) → a financial burden on ... - Read the above words out loud and has students repeat. - Ask Ss to skim the text and compare their predictions in 1 - Check sts' answers, and ask them to give the clues from the reading text which helped them to work out the answers. - Listen and take notes the new words. - Read the words - Read skims the text to check the predictions in task 1. - Give the comments about the predictions. - Find out the clues from the reading text b c d e f ACTIVITY 3: Matching words with theirs definitions (10m) Aims: Sts understand more some words Methods: Work individually and then in groups - Ask Ss to match the highlighted words in the text with the definitions given. - Tell Ss to go back to the reading text to locate the highlighted words and study the context surrounding the words to work out their meaning. Then match them with the definitions. - Have Ss work individually, then check their answers in groups. - Call on some sts to give theirs answer - Feedback - Do the task individually. - Check in groups - Give the answer - Listen and take notes 1. afford 2. impose 3. brand name 4. norm 5. conflicts ACTIVITY 4: Answering the questions (10 m) Aims: Sts practice scanning skills to get specific information Methods: Work in groups of 4 - Ask Ss to read the questions first to work out the type of information they will look for in the text. - Have Ss work in groups of 4 to do the task - Call on some representatives to give their answers. - Ask other to give comments - Feedback - Read the question and do the task by strategy to do “answering the question exercise”. - Work in groups to do the task. - Give the answers. - Give comments. - Check and take notes. 1.
