I. OBJECTIVE:

1. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

- listen to an introduction to a charitable organization and discussing a campaign to support it.

- know the International Day of Persons with disabilities.

2. Skills:

- Develop reading, listening and speaking’s skills

- Help Ss develop the skill of working in pairs and groups

3. Attitude:

 - have responsible attitude towards helping people with disabilities.

 - Serious, positive, proactive, independent to take part in group activities.

 - Showing passion & excitement in studying

 - Cultivate morality, love people, and love their homeland

4. Competence:

- Self-study ability

- Problem-solving ability

- Presentation capacity and reporting

II. MATERIAL NEEDED

1. Teacher: Textbook, lesson plan, cassette player, disc.

2. Students: Students’ books, learning tools, drafting paper and/or extra board, marker

UNIT 4: CARING FOR THOSE IN NEED
PERIOD 36: LESSON 7: COMMUNICATION AND CULTURE
I. OBJECTIVE:
1. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 
- listen to an introduction to a charitable organization and discussing a campaign to support it.
- know the International Day of Persons with disabilities.
2. Skills:
- Develop reading, listening and speaking’s skills
- Help Ss develop the skill of working in pairs and groups

III. PROCEDURE: 
1. Warmup: (3m)
Goal: Lead in the lesson
Tasks: Teacher inform Ss about the lesson’s objectives
Method: Work with the whole class

COMMUNICATION
ACTIVITY 1: Listening and to complete the table (10m)
Aim: Ss understand about a charitable organization.
Method: Work individually and then in pairs
 Focus Ss’ attention on the instructions and the table. 
Have Ss guess what they are going to listen
Have them work in pairs to guess the information and think about how to express such information (e.g how to say the date and year, or how to classify organizations as governmental, non-governmental, profit, non-profit )
Ask Ss to complete the table while listening. Have them listen again to check the answers.
Let Ss compare their answers with a partner, then check answers as a class and write them on the board.
- Listen to the teacher and take notes if necessary.

ACTIVITY 2: Discussing (7 m)
Aims: Sts give their opinions about online friends
Methods: Work in groups
-Have Ss read the instructions and suggested words/ phrases carefully.
-Ask Ss to work in groups of 4 to brain storm ideas and prepare a proposal for a new campaign to support disabled people. 
-Ask some groups to present their campaigns.
Praise Ss for original and interesting ideas, and good presentation skills.

CULTURE
ACTIVITY 1: Look at the logos (7 m)
Aims: Ss get knowledge about logos of the disabilities
Methods: Work in pairs
Focus Ss’ attention on the logos and allow enough time for Ss to discuss how often they think the International Day of people with disabilities is celebrated and what its purpose is.
Invite individual Ss to present their ideas.
Answer: In my opinion, these logos present an international organization called International Day of People with Disability. This special day is often celebrated once a year. Its purpose is to call for community’s help for the people with disabilities.
ACTIVITY 4: Quickly read the text to check your guest (10 m) 
Aims: Ss practice reading skills 
Methods: Work individually and then in pairs
- Ask Ss to read the text again to decide whether the statements are true, false or not given.
- Have Ss compare their answers with a partner.
- Call on some Ss to give their answers
- Ask others to give comments.
- Feedback

International Day of Persons with Disabilities
ACTIVITY 3: Read the text again and answer the questions (6 m) 
Aims: Ss understand about The United Nations.
Methods: Work in groups
- Ask Ss to work in groups, discuss the question.
- Ask the representatives of some groups to report their groups’ opinion to the rest of the class.
- Ask others to give comments.
- Feedback

Expected answers:
1. The United Nations
2. This special day aims at raising awareness of disability issues and calls for support for the rights and well-being of disabled people.
3. They are facing challenges, discrimination, poverty and limited access to education, employment and health care.
4. Now I know more about international organizations and celebrations for people with disabilities; I can express my opinion about how to help disabled people overcome difficulties; I can suggest themes and action plans to celebrate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
