Competence: - Self-study ability - Problem-solving ability - Presentation capacity and reporting II. MATERIAL NEEDED 1. Teacher: Lesson plan, textbook 2. Students: Students’ books, learning tools, pictures, posters III. PROCEDURE: 1. Warmup: (7m) Goal: Teacher and students know more about each other. Tasks: Teacher and students introduce by themselves Method: Communication Suggested answer: Private answers. 2. Contents: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities ACTIVITY 1: Introducing the textbook- English 11 (15m) Aim: Sts understand how to use and learn by their textbook. Method: Explanation, whole class - Ask sts to open the book map & the units and introduce the textbook 1. Textbook introduction: The Structure of the book: -There are ten units. In each unit, there are eight main parts: + Getting started + Language: Vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar + Reading + Speaking + Listening + Writing + Communication and culture + Looking back and project 2. The system of testing. a. Listening skill: + Listen and match + Listen and number + Listen and tick + Listen and complete + Listen and select the correct option + Listen and give short answer + Other listening questions b. Reading skill + Read and match + Read and number + Read and tick + Read and complete + Read and select the correct option + Read for the main idea + Read for specific details + Read and summarize + Other reading questions c. Writing skill + Complete the sentences with a word or a phrase (picture can be used) + Arrange the words to make complete sentences + Use the provided words or phrases to write complete sentences + Arrange sentences to make a complete paragraph + Use the provided words or phrases to write a complete paragraph + Use the provided words or phrases to write a short passage + Write short passages about relevant and familiar topics d. Speaking skill + Introduction + Interview + Free talk + Other speaking tasks e. Language +Multiple choice questions-MCQs + Matching + Gap filling + Information gaps + Reordering + Word form + Other similar and suitable questions - Answer sts’s questions (if any) - Look at the book and listen to the teacher - Take notes if necessary. - Ask if there is any question ACTIVITY 2: Introducing the way of testing (5m) Aims: Guide sts to know about the tests & exam Methods: Explanation, whole class - Introduce the structure of the 15 minute test, 45 minute test and final test of each term and of the school year + Each term will have three 15 minutes test and two 45 minutes test. The 45 minutes test will be done after each 2 units. + The final test will be done after each 5 units. - Answer sts’s questions (if any) - Listen to the teacher and take notes if necessary. - Ask if there is any question ACTIVITY 3: Setting up some class regulations (5m) -Aims: Set up some class regulations - Methods: Communication, whole class - Give some class regulations Books and notebooks Preparation before class Homework after class Preparation for the project ( 2 groups of 5 sts for each project) - Listen and remember to obey ACTIVITY 4: Reviewing English 10 (10m) Aims: Review sts’ knowledge Methods: Give question, whole class - Ask sts about the topics, grammar in each Unit of English 10. - Stand up to say and take notes. Suggested answers: The topics, grammar in each Unit of English 10 3. Consolidation and homework: a. Consolidation: (2m) - Teacher summaries main points of the lesson - Students listen and add some more points b. Homework: (1m) - Do the task again - Prepare Unit 1 – L1: Getting started at home
