I. OBJECTIVE:

1. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

- Write a letter about family rules to a teenager staying with a home stay family.

- Express themselves in written English.

2. Skills: Develop writing’s skills

 - Main skill: Writing a letter

3. Attitude:

 - Serious, positive, proactive, independent to take part in group activities.

 - Showing passion & excitement in studying

 - Cultivate morality, love people, and love their homeland

4. Competence:

- Self-study ability

- Problem-solving ability

- Presentation capacity and reporting

UNIT 1: THE GENERATION GAP
PERIOD 7: LESSON 6: WRITING
I. OBJECTIVE:
1. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 
- Write a letter about family rules to a teenager staying with a home stay family.
- Express themselves in written English.
2. Skills: Develop writing’s skills
	- Main skill: Writing a letter
3. Attitude: 
	- Serious, positive, proactive, independent to take part in group activities.
	- Showing passion & excitement in studying
	- Cultivate morality, love people, and love their homeland
4. Competence: 
- Self-study ability
- Problem-solving ability
- Presentation capacity and reporting
II. MATERIAL NEEDED
1. Teacher: Textbook, lesson plan, cassette player, disc.
2. Students: Students’ books, learning tools, drafting paper and/or extra board, marker
III. PROCEDURE: 
1. Warmup: (3m)
Goal: Lead sts into the topic of the lesson
Tasks: Teacher explain and guide
Method: Whole class.
- Asks students to look at the two pictures in their textbooks and answer what they are
- Leads to the lesson
2. Contents:

ACTIVITY 1: Make full sentences (m)
Aim: Sts get more language they need to write about family rules
Method: Work in pairs
 - Ask Ss to read the different family rules in this section, and say which ones are similar to theirs, e.g. respect one another; help each other; try new things, etc.
- Have sts complete the sentences and think about the rules in their families. Sts may add more rules if they can.
- Call on some pairs to show their answer with their classmates.
- Ask others to give comments.
- Feedback.
- Read the rules and do the task as appointed.
- Show the answers and give comments for others’.
- Check and take notes.
Suggested answers:
1 My parents don't let me stay out late at the weekend.
2 They make me keep my room tidy.
3 They tell me to take my studies seriously.
4 They warn me not to smoke or take drugs.
5 They want me to have good table manners. 
6 I am not allowed to stay over night at my friends' house.
 7 They forbid me to swear or spit on the f1oor.
ACTIVITY 2: (m)
Aims: Sts can give reason or explain for the rules they chosen.
Methods: Work in groups
- Ask sts to choose the three most important rules that their parents often apply in their family, and then give the reasons in the spaces provided
- Tell sts to read and analyze the example so they know what they are expected to do.
- Divide class into 3 big groups and give them the vice-board to write.
- Go around helping sts to express their ideas, if necessary.
- Ask sts to exchange their writing with other groups and check for each other.
- Hang out the vice – board and feedback.
- Listen to teacher and do the task as appointed in big groups.
- Exchange the vice-board and check.
- Check and take notes.

ACTIVITY 3: Complete the letter (m)
Aims: Sts can write a full letter about family rules.
Methods: Work individually
- Ask sts to depend on the 3 paragraphs they have just written and complete the letter.
- Go around helping and collecting some common mistakes.
- Collect some preventative writing to check some common mistakes and feedback. 
- Complete the letter.
- Listen to teacher’s help.
- Check and take notes.

3. Consolidation and homework:
a. Consolidation: (1m)
- Teacher summaries main points of the lesson
- Students listen and add some more points
b. Homework: (1m)
- Do the task again	
- Prepare the next lesson at home.
