I. OBJECTIVE:

1. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

- Know how to take care of the skin and vision.

- Enrich the vocabulary related to the topic: healthy lifestyle.

2. Skills:

- Develop speaking skills: presentation skills

- Improve listening and speaking skills.

3. Attitude:

- Have right attitude toward learning, have responsible attitude toward their schoolwork.

- Be responsible for healthcare increasing life expectancy.

4. Competence:

- Develop the skills of working in pairs and groups as well as time management ability.

II. MATERIAL NEEDED

1. Teacher: Textbook, lesson plan, references, CDs, CD player.

2. Students: Students’ books, learning tools, drafting paper and/or extra board, marker

UNIT 10: HEALTHY LIFESTYLE AND LONGEVITY
PERIOD 82 LESSON 4 : SPEAKING
I. OBJECTIVE: 
1. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
- Know how to take care of the skin and vision.
- Enrich the vocabulary related to the topic: healthy lifestyle.
2. Skills: 
- Develop speaking skills: presentation skills
- Improve listening and speaking skills. 
3. Attitude:
- Have right attitude toward learning, have responsible attitude toward their schoolwork.
- Be responsible for healthcare increasing life expectancy.
4. Competence:
- Develop the skills of working in pairs and groups as well as time management ability.
II. MATERIAL NEEDED
1. Teacher: Textbook, lesson plan, references, CDs, CD player...
2. Students: Students’ books, learning tools, drafting paper and/or extra board, marker
III. PROCEDURE: 
Warm up: (5 m)
*Goal: Lead SS to the topic of the leson
- Ask SS to fill in the blank one suitable letter to make a meaningful words/ phrases.

* Lead-in: Inform the class of the lesson objectives: improving presentation skills by giving a talk on body care.

Activity 1: Below is a set of note cards for a talk about skincare. Use the words and phrases in the box to complete them. (12m)
* Aims: Provide SS words and phrases and help them to prepare note cards for a talk on skincare.
- Ask Ss to look at the set of note cards for a talk on skincare.
- Explain to Ss that note cards can be a very helpful tool for preparing, rehearsing and delivering speeches or talks. The note cards should contain the most important information as bullet points, which can be used as prompts in case the speaker gets nervous or forgets what to say.
- Give some guidelines on how to prepare note cards:
a. Prepare small-sized cards (approximately
6 x 10 cm).
b. Have one idea or one main heading per card.
c. Use bullet points or numbers to list supporting ideas under the main heading; 
d. Write on one side of the card.
e. Number the cards so that you know the order they
come in.
- Have Ss work in pairs and read through the six supporting ideas in the box and the sample note cards. Ask them to discuss which ideas should be used for each of the tips on the cards (numbered 2, 3, and 4).
-Have pairs make their own note cards and present their answers to the class.
- Listen to the T’s instruction carefully to know how to do the task.
- Do the task follow the steps guided
Suggested answers:
B1: wear protective clothing -> avoid sunburn
+ wear sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 15
B2: eat a wide variety of fruit and vegetables –> provide vitamins and nutrients
+ drink a lot of water –> prevent water loss
B3: wash your face twice a day with warm water and mild soap –> remove dirt
Don’t squeeze pimples –> can lead to swelling, redness and infection
- Make their own note cards and present their answers to the class.
- Correct mistakes if any.
Activity 2: Work in pairs. Use the note cards to talk about skincare, paying attention to the following. (15m)
* Aims: Provide SS the guidelines to give a talk successfully.
- Give further explanations on when to use
some common linking words / expressions and hesitation devices.
- Have Ss practise the talk on skincare in pairs. Remind them to use the note cards and the guidelines.
- Invite one or two students to give the talk in front of the class.
- Give feedback on SS’s talk.
- Work in pairs. Use the note cards to talk about skincare, paying attention to the guidance on the textbook.
a. to introduce ideas in sequence (First / Second / Next / Last)
b. to add further ideas (Moreover Furthermore / In addition / What’s more)
c. to clarify an idea (What I mean is ... / In other words /
I mean / To put it another way)
d. to stall for time (Let me think / Now let me collect my thoughts)
- Practise giving the talk in front of the class.
- Correct mistake if any
Activity 3: Prepare another set of note cards for a talk about how to take care of your vision. Use the information below and your own ideas. (10 m)
* Aims: Provide further practice in giving a talk on another health-related topic.
- Have Ss work individually. Ask them to read the suggested ideas for taking care of their vision and prepare a set of note cards for their talk.
- Ask Ss to practice the conversation in pairs.
- Set a time limit for the pair’s preparation and practice
- Invite some pairs to role-play in front of the class.
- Encourage Ss to give feedback on things such as interesting content, original ideas, fluency of speech and good presentation skills.
-Work individually, read the suggested ideas for taking care of their vision and prepare a set of note cards for the talk.
- Practice the conversation in pairs.
Taking care of your vision
+Use some kinds of eye drop to ease your eye’s tiredness
+Practice to look at things in distance to develop your eyesight
- Role-play in front of the class.
- Give feedback and correct the mistake if any
3. Consolidation and homework 
a. Consolidation: (2 m)
- Retell some main points of the lesson that SS need to focus on.
b. Homework: (1m). 
- Complete and correct the cards that SS have done during the lesson.
- Prepare the next lesson: Review vocabulary and grammar from unit 6 to unit 8.
