I. OBJECTIVE:
1. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
- get to know the topic of the unit, some language items in Unit 6
o Vocabulary: words and phrases related to global warming
o Pronunciation: intonation in yes-no questions and echo-questions
o Grammar: perfect gerunds and perfect participles
2. Skills:
- develop Listening, reading skills

- be aware of the need to solve the global warming problem.
- Serious, positive, proactive, independent to take part in group activities.

Warmup: (5m) Goal: Lead Ss into the topic of the lesson Tasks: Ask and answer Method: Whole class. T shows Ss some pictures and asks Ss to answer the questions - Ask Ss to look at the picture and answer the question - Who do you see in the picture? - Where do you think they are? - What are they doing? * Expected answers: The people are Ms Hoa and her students. Ms Hoa is checking how they are preparing for a team presentation on global warming and is suggesting some ideas. * Lead in: In our lesson today, you will know something about the global warming problem. 2. Contents: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities ACTIVITY 1: Teaching vocabulary (8m) Aim: Teaching vocabulary Method: observation skills and produce the new words. - Give out some vocabulary: + Carbon footprint (n phr): lượng khí CO2 thải ra hàng ngày + carbon emission (n phr): sự phát thải khí CO2 + climate change (n phr): biến đổi khí hậu + chemical fertilizer (n phr): phân bón hóa học + desforestation (n): sự chặt phá rừng + ecological balance (n phr): sự cân bằng sinh thái + greenhouse gas emission (n phr): sự phát thải khí gây hiệu ứng nhà kính - Read the above words out loud and has students repeat. - Let Ss read in chorus 2 times and then individually - Check out the vocabulary. - Look at the given words and pictures to guests the meaning of the words. - Write down the words on the notebooks. - Read the words in chorus and individually. - Check and take notes ACTIVITY 2: Read the text again and answer the questions (12m) Aims: To help Ss understand the conversation through comprehension questions. Methods: Work in pairs - Ask Ss to scan (look only for specific facts or details without reading everything) the text to find the answers to the questions Have them highlight the key words in the questions first, and then try to answer the same words in the text. Then, Ss can take turns asking and answering the questions in pairs. Check answers in front of the class. - Do the task in pairs - Give out the answers. - Give comments. - Check and take notes Keys: 1. Global warming 2. Causes: burning of fossil fuels, using of non-environment friendly products Effects: natural disasters such as floods, droughts, tsunami, acid rain ACTIVITY 3: Match the words with its definitions (7m) Aims: Ss get more words to understand the text. Methods: Work individually and in pairs. - Ask Ss to work individually to match each word with its definition - Then ask Ss to work in pairs to practise reading the words aloud - Encourage Ss to use the word in context in the conversation when choosing the correct definition for each word Listen to the teacher. - Do the task in individually - Guests the contents Key : 1. (5m) Aims: To help Ss to summary the text Methods: Working in groups - Divide Ss in class into groups of 3. -Without books, ask Ss if they still remember what they know about the global warming problem. - Do the task in groups. - Give out the answers. - Give comments. 3. Consolidation and homework: a. Consolidation: (2m) - Teacher summaries main points of the lesson - Asks Ss to fill in the blank to complete the sentences 1.
