- Asking for and giving infformation about the Asian Games.
- Talk about the sports results.
2. Skills:
- To help improve and develop speaking skill.
- Students exchange their opinion to the class.
3. Attitudes:
- Be aware of the Asian Games and feel interested in speaking about the Asian Games.

PROCEDURE TEACHER’S ACTIVITIES STUDENTS’ ACTIVITIES Class organization (1 minnutes) T begins the class with some common greetings by saying: “Good morning, class. How are you keeping today?” T checks the attendance: “The monitor, who is absent today?” Ss greet T by answering T’questions Class 11A7 Total: 40 Absence: Check up: No New lesson: Warm up (5 minutes): T asks Ss pay attention and answer the questions below: (show powerpoint) Which sport is aquatic? A, skiing B, swimming C, wrestling D, A and B The first Asian Games were held in: A, Manila, Philippine B, Tokyo, Japan C, New Delhi, India D, Busan, Korea The 14th Asian Games attracted 9,919 participants from ...... countries: A, 32 B, 11 C, 44 D, 45 The 3rd Asian Games were held in: A, Manila, Philippine B, Tokyo, Japan C, New Delhi, India D, Bangkok, Thailand What is the sport? A, Wrestling B, Skiing C, Squash D, Rugby T checks and shows the answer. T leads in the new lesson: Unit 12: THE ASIAN GAMES B – Speaking Ss pay attention and answer T’s question. Ss do the T’s requirement Give their answers Listen to the teacher Key: D 4. B C 5. A C Pre – Speaking (13 minutes): Task 1: Work in pairs. Ask and answer questions about the Asian Games, using the information from the table below. T calls 1 Ss to read the requirement of Task 1. Explains the requirement of Task 1. Remind Ss about the ordinal numbers. Let Ss look at the example below. A: When and where were the 2nd Asian Games held? B: They were held in 1954 in Philippines. A: How many countries took part in the Games? B: Eighteen. A: How many sports were there at the Games? B: Eight. T asks Ss about the tense when they talk about the event in the past: Use past tense to refer to events in the past. Ask Ss about the kind of sentence when talk about year and place that the Asian Games were held: Use passive voice when talking about when and where the Asian Games took place. T lets Ss practice speaking Task 1 with their partners in 3 minutes. T calls on some pairs to read the dialogue T checks and gives feedback. Do the T’s requirement Listen to the teacher. Pay attention Answer T’s questions Work in pairs to do this task. Listen to the teacher While – Speaking (16 minutes): Task 2: Work in groups. Take turns to talk about the sports results of the Vietnamese athletes at 14th Asian Games, using the information from the table below. T asks Ss to read the requirement of the task. T explains the table then gives example: A: How many medals did the Vietnames athlete win in bodybuilding? B: Two medals. A: What kinds of medals they get? B: Well, they won one gold medal and one bronze. Divides class into 4 groups to ask and answer about the sports results (into 5 minutes). Call each groups go to the board talking about it. T checks and gives feedback. Read the requirement. Listen to the teacher Work in group to do this task Go to the board talking about it Suggeted answer: A: How many medals did the Vietnames athlete win in billiards? B: Two medals. A: What kinds of medals they get? B: Well, they won one gold medal and one silver. A: How many medals did the Vietnames athlete win in karatedo? B: Three medals. A: What kinds of medals they get? B: Well, they won two gold medal and one bronze. ............. Post – Speaking: (8 minutes) Discussion: T asks Ss some questions about the 18th Asian Games: 1, When were the 18th Asian Games held? 2, Where were it held? T asks Ss to guess the following question: 3, Do you think the next Asian Games will be held in Vietnam? Why/ why not? T checks and gives answer for Ss and feedback. Pay attention. Discuss and give answer Guess to find the answer. Listen to the teacher. Suggested answer: 1, They were held in18 August to 2 September 2018 2, They were held in Jakarta and Palembang. 3, (Up to the students’ ideas). Consolidate (1 minute) What have you learnt today? Homework (1 minute) Practice Task 1 and Task 2 again. Ask Ss to prepare for the next lesson. V.
