1. Teacher: Textbook, lesson plan, cassette player, disc.
2. Students: Students’ books, learning tools, drafting paper and/or extra board, marker

Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: - Know the ways to use a verb form after a noun. - Practise doing exercises related to the vocabulary and grammar points. 2. Skills - Develop SS’s listening and speaking and writing skills: 3. Attitude: - Take the study seriously - To be more interested in learning English. 4. Competence: - Self-study ability - Co-operative and reporting abilities. II. MATERIAL NEEDED 1. Teacher: Textbook, lesson plan, cassette player, disc. 2. Students: Students’ books, learning tools, drafting paper and/or extra board, marker III. PROCEDURE: Warm up: (5 m) * Aims Create warm atmostphere before starting the lesson and lead SS into the topic of the lesson. - Ask SS to retell the ways to use To- infinitive after an adj and take some examples. - Answers: 1. Noun / Pronoun + linking verb + adjective + to-infinitive 2. It + linking verb + adjective (for somebody) + to-infi nitive + We are happy to see you here. + It is difficult to find a job in the city nowadays. - Ask other SS to give comments. - Give feedback. - Lead into the lesson: We’re going to learn the ways to use a verb after an adjective. Teacher’s activities Students’ activities I. To-infinitive after anoun. (15 m) - Help SS to know that we can use to-infi nitives after certain abstract nouns to say what action they relate to. Noun + to-infi nitive - Nouns: advice, ability, ambition, anxiety, attempt, chance, decision, dream, failure, permission, plan, request, wish, way, demand,determination, effort, offer, willingness. Examples: –> Your dream to become a teacher will come true. –> You should find a way to deal with this problem. - Give time for SS to practise making their own sts. - Call the to speak and check. 2. Exercise 1: Rewrite the sentences, using the nouns in brackets and a to-infinitive phrase. (10 m) - Guide SS to do the exercise carefully. Do the model first. Example: She knows how to make this cake. (way) ⇒ She knowsthe way to make this cake. 1. You are not ill so you don’t have to stay in bed. (need) 2. My Maths teacher is able to make complicated things easy to understand. (ability) 3. That he decided to take part in the contest surprised all of us. (decision) 4. She was not allowed to go to the party. (permission) 5. I didn’t know that they were going to Ha Long Bay for the summer holidays. (plan) - Give time for SS to do , go round to help if necessary. - Ask SS to write down the answers on the board and check. 3. Exercise 2: Make up sentences using to-infi nitives. (12 m) - Guide SS to do the exercise carefully. - Give time for SS to do , go round to help if necessary. 1. Their goal / win / first prize/ seem unrealistic. 2. Nobody /know/ his dream / become/doctor. 3. Her failure / obey / school rules upset her parents very much. 4. Tania/ ability / speak three foreign Language/ be amazing. 5. Tom’s attempt / persuade / parents / allow him / join the club failed. He /make / effort /overcome any difficulty/ by himself. Key 1. Their goal to win the first prize seems unrealistic. 2. Nobody knew about his dream to become a doctor. 3. Her failure to obey the school rules upset her parents very much. 4. Tania’s ability to speak three foreign languages is amazing. 5. Tom’s attempt to persuade his parents to allow him to join the club failed. 6. He made an eff ort to overcome any difficulties by himself. - Ask SS to write down the answers on the board. - Feedback and go over the answers. - Pay attention to the teacher. - Write down and stamp on mind the nouns are used and take examples. - Make their own sts and check with the T. - Do this activity individually, and then compare their answers with a partner. - Write the sentences on the board. Check the answers with the whole class. - Check the answers carefully. - Practise reading the words aloud. - Do ex in individual then in group to discuss the answers. - Write down the answers on board. - Check the answers with the T, correct mistakes if any. - Read the sentences aloud to practise pronunciation 3. Consolidation and homework. a. Consolidation: (2 m) - Ask SS to retell what they have learnt during the lesson: the ways to use a verb form after a noun. - Teacher summaries main points of the lesson. b. Homework: (1m) - Learn by heart ways to use To-infinitive and do the tasks again. - Prepare Unit 3 - Reading.
