Students: Students’ books, learning tools, drafting paper and/or extra board, marker III. PROCEDURE: 1. Warmup: (7m) Check speaking:. Goal: Check out sts’ speaking skill and their knowledge Tasks: Sts must use Pronunciation, Vocabulary, Accuracy and Fluency in their speaking part. Method: Individually Question: Talk about their partners' type of family and what they like and dislike about it. Give feedback and give marks - Lead in the new lesson: Today we are going to study unit 1 - Language to know more about compound noun. 2. Contents: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities ACTIVITY 1: VOCABULARY Aim: Sts know and practice vocabulary through exercises. Method: Work in pairs and work with the whole class. Task 1 (5m) - Ask sts work in pairs to match each single noun (1-9) with another (a-i) to make a compound noun. - Call on the representatives of 3 pairs to write down their answers on board. - Ask other to give comments. - Feedback. - Draw Ss’ attention to the four compounds written as one word: household, hairstyle, schoolchildren, footsteps. - Explain: A compound noun is a noun that is made up of two or more words. Each compound noun acts as a single unit and can be modified by adjectives and other nouns. In compound nouns, the stress usually falls on the first word. Ex: a greenhouse (compound noun) A green house ( free word combination) Task 2: (5m) - Ask sts to complete the questions with some of the compound nouns in 1. - Have sts work individually first. Then ask them to work in pairs, and compare their answers. - Check sts’ answers by asking and answering all the questions in pairs. - Do the task in pairs. - Write down the answers on board. - Give comments. - Check and take note 1g 2h 3i 4f 5c 6b 7a 8d 9e - Listen to the teacher carefully, and take notes. - Do the task individually and then compare the answers with a partner. - Check and take notes. 1. Methods: Work with whole class Task 1 (5m) - Introduce the part and instruct sts to read the demand to know what to read correctly - Play the tape three times and ask sts to practice reading them. - Ask sts to pay attention to the stressed words with the stress mark before the stressed syllable. - Play the recording again for sts to listen, pausing after each sentence. - Ask sts to study the Note part: Do you know....? Task 2: (5m) - Explain the exercise to sts, draw their attention to the words in bold. - Play the recording and ask them to check their answers in pairs. - Ask sts to make pair to role – play the Qs and answer in front of the class. ACTIVITY 3: GRAMMAR Aims: sts know the use of modals: Should , ought to, must, have to Methods: work in groups Task 1: (8m) - Introduce the part, instruct sts to talk in groups and give some guide - Ask sts to underline the correct words to complete the sentences, and pay attention to the meaning of the sentences in order to choose the right word. - Ask sts to compare their answer in group of each table. - Feedback and then elicit from them the rules of using should, shouldn’t, ought to, ought not to, must, mustn’t, have to, don’t have to. - Ask sts study the Note part: Do you know.........? Task 2: (7m) - Ask sts to use the word in brackets to rewrite each sentence without changing its meaning. - Monitor the activity and help them if necessary. - Feedback and give correct answers. - Listen to T and take notes. - Underline the correct words to complete the sentences and choose the right words. - Work in groups of each table to compare the answers. - Check and take notes. 1.
