I. OBJECTIVE:
1. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
- Talk about the skills teens need to develop in order to become independent and the reasons why those skills are necessary.
- Get more vocabulary related to the topic “SKILLS YOU NEED TO BE INDEPENDENT”
2. Skills: Develop speaking’s skills
- To promote sts to develop their speaking skills
- To help sts develop the skill of working in pairs and groups
3. Attitude:
- Serious, positive, proactive, independent to take part in group activities.
- Showing passion & excitement in studying
- Cultivate morality, love people, and love their homeland
4. Competence:
- Self-study ability
- Problem-solving ability
- Presentation capacity and reporting

1. Teacher: Textbook, lesson plan, cassette player, disc.
2. Students: Students’ books, learning tools, drafting paper and/or extra board, marker

Warmup: (4m) Goal: Lead sts into the topic of the lesson Tasks: Jumble words Method: Whole class. - Teacher gie three jumble words and ask sts to re-order the letters to make a meaning word. 1. INDEPENDENT Lead in the lesson: important skills we need to be independent Contents: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities ACTIVITY 1: Pre-teaching vocabulary (8m) Aim: Sts get more words related to the topic Method: Work individually - Give some vocabularies and pictures to illustrate for sts to find their meaning. - Ask sts to read the words in chorus 2 times. - Listen and take notes. - Read the vocabulary in chorus ACTIVITY 2: TASK 1 – Matching the skills with the appropriate reasons (7m) Aims: Sts understand about life skills and reason why we need them. Methods: Work in pairs - Give the instruction and explain the task- Ask sts to work in pairs to do the task in 2 minutes. - Call on 2 sts to write their answers on board. - Ask others to give comments. - Feedback - Listen to the teacher - Work in pairs to do the task - Write down the answers on board - Give comments. - Check and take notes 1. d 2. f 3. e 4. a 5. g 6. b 7. c ACTIVITY 3: TASK 2 - Completing the conversation (5m) Aims: Sts give more attention about using skills’ name and their reasons. Interpersonal communication 4. communicate ACTIVITY 4: TASK 2 - Practicing the conversation (5m) Aims: Sts practice speaking the conversation Methods: Work in pairs - Ask sts to work in pairs and practice reading the conversation. - Call on some pairs to practice in front of the whole class. - Check some common mistakes. - Feedback - Work in pairs to practice the conversation ACTIVITY 5: TASK 3 - Making a similar conversation (15m) Aims: Sts know how to make a conversation to give theirs opinion about the most important life skill. Methods: Work in pairs - Give the instruction and explain the task. - Ask sts to look back the conversation in task 2 to make a model for the conversation. - Ask sts to work in pairs to make similar conversation. - Go around helping if necessary. - Call on some pairs to speak out their conversations. - Ask other to give comments. - Feedback - Listen to the teacher - Make the model with teacher’s help A: __(name)__ , which of the life skills do you think are most important? They are finding information, getting around on your own, coping with loneliness, general housekeeping, health and hygiene, problem solving and interpersonal communication 3. Because they can help me to communicate effectively and get along well with people around me. b. Homework: (1m) - Write down your conversation on your notebook and practice it - Prepare the next lesson at home.
