- Scan the text to get some specific details

- Problem-solving ability
- Presentation capacity and reporting
II. MATERIAL NEEDED
1. Teacher: Textbook, lesson plan, cassette player, disc.
2. Students: Students’ books, learning tools, drafting paper and/or extra board, marker
III. PROCEDURE:
1. Warmup: (5m)
Goal: Lead sts into the topic of the lesson
Tasks: T informs Ss of the lesson objectives

Contents: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities ACTIVITY 1: Discussing (5m) Aim: Sts brainstorm about relationships problems at school or at home Method: Work in pairs - Introduce the pictures & ask sts to discuss the 2 questions in activity 1 – page 22 - Call on some pairs to speak out their answers. - Ask other to give comments - Feedback - Look at the pictures and discuss the 2 questions in activity 1 – page 22 - Speak out the answers. - Give comments. - Check and take notes. 1. Picture a: The teacher is returning students' papers. The boy is depressed because of his poor grades. Picture b: Their relationship is breaking up Picture c: They're having an argument 2. We often talk to our mom, best friends, lover ACTIVITY 2: Pre-teaching vocabulary (8m) Aims: Sts get more words to understand the reading text Methods: Work individually Pre-teaching vocabulary: advice column (n.ph) betray (v) trust (n) drop out of school counselor (n) be on good term with sb take an initiation engage in (v) - Read the above words out loud and has students repeat in chorus 2 times - Call on some sts to read individually. - Ask sts to learn by heart the new words at home - Listen to teacher and take notes. - Listen and repeat in chorus - Read out loud individually ACTIVITY 3: Reading and matching (7m) Aims: Sts skim the passage to get main ideas Methods: Work individually and then in pairs - Tell sts that they are going to read an advice column in a newspaper including readers’ questions and counselor’s replies. - Ask ss to read the Qs in task 2 and replies quickly and find the main ideas. - Have Ss choose the best summary of each reader’s problem. - Feedback - Read the passage and then do the task. - Give the answers. - Check and take notes 1.b ( Van Ha: My friend betrayed my trust) 2.c ( Quang nam: I don’t have friends) ACTIVITY 4: Task 3 – Finding the words to match with their meaning (8m) Aims: Sts get more words related to the topic Methods: Work in pairs - Ask sts to read the five definitions in task 3. Ask them to find the words or expressions in the text to match these definitions. - Has Ss work in pairs to compare their answers. - Checks Ss' answers as a class. - Feedback - Do as appointed. - Compare the answers with a partner. - Check and take notes 1. Be on good terms with someone. 2. take the initiative. 3. trust 4. engage in ( a conversation) 5. drop out ( of school) ACTIVITY 5: Task 4 – Answering the questions (10m) Aims: Sts scan to get specific information to answer the questions Methods: Work in groups - Ask sts to work in groups of 4 to do the task. - Call on some representatives to give their groups’ answers and give out the clues in the passage. - Ask others to give comments. - Feedback - Do as apointed. - Check and take notes 1.
