I. OBJECTIVE:

1. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

- use lexical items related to vocabulary with words or phrases related to the topic of ASEAN

- say statements and yes/no questions with appropriate intonation.

- understand and use Gerunds after some words, verbs and prepositions, and phrases;

- know about the cooperation and solidarity among ASEAN countries.

2. Skills:

- develop Listening, reading, writing, speaking skills

3. Attitude:

- respect ASEAN countries and their diverse cultures

- Serious, positive, proactive, independent to take part in group activities.

- Showing passion & excitement in studying

- Cultivate morality, love people, and love their homeland

4. Competence:

- Self-study ability

- Problem-solving ability

- Presentation capacity and reporting

UNIT 5: BEING PART OF ASEAN
PERIOD 42: LESSON 2: LANGUAGE 2
I. OBJECTIVE:
1. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 
- use lexical items related to vocabulary with words or phrases related to the topic of ASEAN

II. MATERIAL NEEDED
1. Teacher: Textbook, lesson plan, cassette player, disc.
2. Students: Students’ books, learning tools, drafting paper and/or extra board, marker
III. PROCEDURE: 
1. Warmup: (6m) 
Goal: Check the knowledge.
Tasks: Filling the suitable word in each blanket in the following sentences.
1. Because her classmates ____a lot more about ASEAN and the ASEAN Charter , and are more confident than her.
2. As of 2010, it consists of 10 member states, but may be bigger because other countries have applied to ___ the bloc.

Gerunds: 
Aims: sts know the use of Gerund.
Methods: work in groups
Task 1: Choose the correct Gerund (the-ing form) in the box to fill each gap: (8m)

 - Give the meaning of some words in the task 
 (using picture) :

Ask Ss to work in groups to do exercise
. Ask them to write their answers on vice-board
- Monitor the activity and help them if necessary.
- Ask Ss to hang their vice-board on board.
- Ask Ss to give comments.
- Feedback and give correct answers
 2. Activity 2: Complete the sentences with the correct form of the verbs in brackets: (10m)
Some pairs read their completed sentences.
Ask Ss to work in groups to do this exercise

State verbs: 
Aims: Ss know the use of State verbs 
Methods: work in groups
State verbs describe a state or condition which is unchanging and lasts for some time. State verbs are not normally used in continuous tenses 
3. Activity 3: Choose the correct answers in brackets to complete the sentences (8m)
 - Have Ss discuss their answers with a partner first, and then circle the correct answers
- Monitor the activity, and offer help if necessary
- Check Ss’s answers by asking some of them to read out their answers
- Feedback
 4. Activity 4: Use the simple or continuous form of the verbs in brackets to complete the sentences (10m)
- Ask Ss to work first individually, then with a partner 
- Check answers 
- Have Ss to read the explanation in the “Do you know ?” box and check if they understand them
